Painting provides me with a means to express the ineffable. I begin my paintings with intentions to play with particular colors, mediums, and techniques and alter my approach as I engage in the painting more deeply. Experiencing colors interiorly, I spontaneously associate colors with specific emotions. I find watercolor an excellent medium for expressing the flowing nature of these internal feeling states.
Many of my paintings can be viewed from multiple perspectives—both symbolically and from the standpoint of physical orientation. This I sense springs from the process with which I approach my painting. As my individual paintings progress, I often stand and move around the table in order to work on the painting from multiple viewpoints.

Vietnamese for “thanks”, this delightful bamboo covered hut, called Cảm ơn, is the perfect “come on in” invitation to one of our most spectacularly colored birds – the painted bunting! This glittering, orange embellished home is a rare treat for the bunting, who needs dense brush to brood.
