Stained Glass Artistry by
Ann M Miller
I began working in stained glass in 1980. I was employed by a stained glass studio in Janesville, WI. There I learned the process and applied my art background to designing custom pieces. I also had the opportunity to teach others the process through the classes we offered. While there, I was also a member of the Janesville Art League.
My favorite part about my work is the designing aspect. All my designs are original. The challenge is in uniquely combining elements of color, texture, shape and line. Good design celebrates space. It is about refinement and editing. Often what is eliminated is as important as what remains. Creatively using glass can bring together art and architecture. Someone once said to me that my pieces are “inspired” and that to me, means art is very personal for me and to share it with others is the reward.

The Grist Mill is an unassuming little family birdfeeder restaurant is perfect for mom & pop entrepreneurs. It features inset stained glass windows and has just enough glitter to catch a bird’s eye and more than enough space to fill with wild bird seed and grain for a tempting feathered spread.
